Default Petition: Announcing of Gold (Money) Drops

Whenever i quest i get gold drops (money, not gold items), sometimes high amounts, sometimes low. I usually see the drops and pick them up right away. However, there are times when i dont see the drop until later on and i have to go back and pick them up. This really frustrates me when im in a hurry and need to do something quickly. I propose that Anet make it so that gold drops are announced when they are dropped from enemies. They would be unlike regular drops in that they would NOT be reserved for one person to pick up, but still would be able to be picked up by every party member and then shared. This way, gold drops would not be missed and left behind. Please say /signed or /notsigned if you like or dislike this idea. Thank you.

-Dean

Edit by Faer:
FOR FUTURE REFERENCE:

GOLD != RARE
GOLD = MONEY, CASH, MOOLAH

Any posts talking about how rares are already announced and such will be deleted.

P.S: This would be optional so that you can turn it on and off depending on your preference.

You hear the sound of money dropping.

Open your eyes a little and look around.

If you are in that much of a hurry why are you even picking up gold?

My advice is to press ;+space after each fight, so that you pick up every item. This way you'll pick everything up. If you are talking about actual gold, I'd have to say that that never has been reserved and always is shared. If you are talking about gold item drops, well, they even added a color for that in the notification. Also, what if your inventory is full? Or what if you don't even want the item? And how could you share a gold item drop?

I'm a little bit confused with what you mean, but if I understood correctly:

Picked up by everyone... uhmmm no thanks. That Ninja Gnome videos from WoW makes me scared that people would be joining groups just to steal drops.

/notsigned as you can take the 1 second it takes to do a 360. If your in a hurry you shouldn't be playing Guild Wars in the first place, we don't want to make you late for your appointment or whatever etc.

all gold is picked up by anyone already, i was jsut making it clear that it would not be like other drops where it is assigned to one person.

#2) I play guild wars of my own accord and because i want to
#3) I have a life outside of GW and sometimes things come up when im playing and i have to hurry to finish, thats just how it is with us ppl that actually do things outside of GW.
#4) Think about what you are going to say before you say it. Thanks a lot.

yea, theres no sound fx for drops at all. there is a text menu. i believe when your in a hard battle, those extra fx will just become annoying, i dont want to hear a "chi-ching" every 3 seconds when some nuker decides to meator shower a mob in FoW. if you want drops, hold ALT. it shows every drop, even those not assigned to you.

If I read the OP correctly, there is not text for "X monster dropped XXX gold pieces"

If I read the OP correctly is say...

/signed for text for gold drops ie cash

I can sympathize with the OP, but I gotta say, sometimes gold drops quite often.. often enough that I would get annoyed with those messages scrolling by. Maybe it's just me. If it's something that could be toggled I'm all for it. But otherwise, I'm not sure I care that much, because I am always looking around with ALT and grabbing things up. It's not a huge problem for me.

ah i am corrected, the big bad scary monsters arnt listed in the text menue when dropping gold.

either way, i still dont want fx sounds for drops. but maybe a toggle option to show all drops/loot only.

For the same reason I just edited the thread title.

Some people around here are too dense to know the difference between gold and rares (rare items have golden text, so people automatically assume things before actually reading anything).

/pokes growing number of deleted posts that nobody but staff can see

It gets annoying to see so much spam and junk because people can't read, or refuse to read.

Well, I am sick about drops and the way you must pick them; Maybe they must add a window with items dropped in the area with a filter, and buttons like pick only golds, purple and money in the area, etc, etc., I am not sure if developers actually play this game a lot? Are not they sick too, like me? :?

Picking items is part of the traditional PvE experience. If I don't have to pick stuff up... why have the stuff drop in the first place? You might as well suggest that quest rewards be made random and we get a random set of items upon quest or mission completion.

As for gold, the sound when gold drops is pretty noticeable. And try getting used to the semicolon button ( to check for things to pick up.

There are ALREADY a system in-game that show you drops in a window when you end a mission, they just could make that window available ALL the time in mission; It's a problem of usability, not if is traditional or not, I suffer sometimes because I don't have eagle eyes (I use glasses)

Hydra drops 105 gold coins.
That would make things a lot easier. Sounds wouldnt help, I play with sounds off (i use vent a lot, plus i have a noisy kuunavang).
I don't know why they didn't do this a long time ago.

Not everyone has sound all the time. For example, someone ordered a new computer, and the speakers are arriving in a seperate box than the rest of the computer, but for some reason come a week late, or maybe you just spilled some liquid on the speakers and now they don't work and you have to wait a week for the new ones to come in, or many other reasons.

Also, the gold doesn't only drop at the end of the battle, and I don't know about you, but I almost never notice the sound of gold droping when I'm trying to keep my teamates alive (monk) or trying kill everything around me (any class but monk), or anything else that would involve enemies nearby.

It's really anoying when I kill a group, think I got all the drops I can, and move on to the next enemy group, only to realize that I missed a gold drop from the first enemy group and have to walk back there. It's even more anoying in timed missions, because then I can't even go back to get the gold.

/signed to having the gold be displayed like all other drops when it falls.

I dont want a million texts popping up on every mob. There is already enough as it is. I can see when something drops for me I dont need text telling me.

/notsigned.

If this bothers you so much I think using the "target nearest object" key-bind is much more efficient. It also allows you to pick up loot much more quickly than by targetting using the mouse.
